Protective eyewear must be worn when soldering.
They must be 'on-the-face' and not on the head. They are either being worn or you put them back on the rack Sponges are important when soldering.
The sponges need to be damp. Squeeze out excess water. They are used to keep the tip of the iron clean. Only wipe the tip on the sponge (never leave a hot iron lying on anything) |
Always return the soldering iron to it's holder after use. Always assume that the soldering iron is on or could be on. Never touch the tip of the iron as you might get a very nasty burn. If the iron doesn't appear to be working get the Learning Leader. Wire wool tip cleaner. This may be needed on occasion to clean the iron's tip. Get the Learning Leader to do this. Pliers like this are sometimes called Needle Nose Pliers. There are useful for holding delicate electronic components. Cutters are used for cutting wire. |
