This course is about learning the basics of electonics. Some of the ideas that have been covered are: voltage, current, resistance, units of measurement, how to measure voltage and resistance, Ohms law, direction of current flow, what is a circuit, components in a circuit such as resistors, battery, LED, transistor, capacitor and other ideas such as series and parallel circuits. In this course learners have learnt soldering and circuit construction skills.
What were your highlights? Include your own ideas on what you did in this course.
Circuits constructed: Resistor/ LED CIRCUIT, Parallel CIRCUIT, Series CIRCUIT, Transistor as a Switch CIRCUIT, Capacitor as a Timing CIRCUIT, and The Flip Flop CIRCUIT. More info is available at https://www.juniordigital.school/yr10-card-tronics.html.
Learning Strategies Used
Independent Learning Actions (ILA's) which means being caring, creative, enterprising, curious, collaborative, joyful, persevering, using thinking, being wise and resilient.
Learning as a Challenge Model (LAC's) which includes planning, building knowledge, making sense of knowledge and using knowledge learnt.
Life Long Values (LLV's) which include connections, confidence, character, and competence.
Literacy Strategies including the reading, writing and presenting strategies.
TASK Read about these strategies and pick one or two you used. This will help writing your LINC-ED Learning Story. For more information on the learning strategies used in the course click here.
Image and video evidence of your work Part of your learning is to document your circuits as you build them. Some photos and videos showing your completed work should have be emailed to your yourself or perhaps still be on your cellphone.
Download the photos and videos to a 10CTR folder in your Documents folder on your school network location. You could also put the photos and videos on a thumb drive and use that. The thumb drive can be used in one of the USB ports.
Learning Stories Your learning stories will be done in Linc-Ed. They will need to contain answers to these questions. --What was your course about? --How did we build knowledge and make sense to be able to take action around our learning? Give examples e.g. learning strategies used. --What have we learnt? You'll need some evidence of your work e.g. a photo or video to talk about. --Why is this important? You can talk about what you have learnt such as safety knowledge, electronics knowledge etc. --What are my next steps? Is there more learning you'd like to do? You can follow the Draft Learning Story and get additional information from this webpage. There are some links below to help you.
DRAFT LEARNING STORY The Draft Learning Story can now be written. Remember to:
Refer to the learning strategies you used
Refer to the course work and the webpages for the course work on digital.school.nz
Refer to the mind maps done using Coggle
Use the spelling checker (Tools menu, Spelling, Spell Check)
Proof read your story yourself looking out for grammatical and other mistakes
Get your DRAFT Learning Story Template here. Share your Draft Learning Story with your Learning Leader ([email protected])
LINC-ED LEARNING STORY Before you start your Linc-Ed Learning Story you should have shared your DRAFT with your learning leader. The LL should have checked the story and approved its content and quality of spelling and grammar. Note:
Use your draft as a basis for writing your learning story
Upload to your learning story a piece of evidence from each of the topics in your course
